A Major League Soccer pitch is between 110-120 yards long and 70-80 yards wide. Obviously, that’s a big, big field — but that’s not stopping Seattle’s beloved Sounders FC from bringing soccer to the Waterfront Park.
Okay, so they’re not exactly bringing a full pitch. Or even a smaller version, really. Instead, they’re bringing something new: A Soccer Octagon. Friends is partnering with the RAVE Foundation to bring the Soccer Octagon to the Hot Spot in Waterfront Park in July.
Perfect for fast and fun matches for people of all ages, the Octagon was created by the RAVE Foundation, the official charitable arm of Sounders FC. Come on down and check it out on July 24th, we’ll be featuring local kids’ bands at our School’s Out! event – and on July 30 with the Sounders’ RAVE Foundation featuring a DJ from KEXP, along with all the other Hot Spot events happening this summer.
The Soccer Octagon isn’t the only new play area the RAVE Foundation is bringing to our city, however. On July 25, the RAVE Foundation will officially launch at the future site of their first permanent small field at Yesler Park as part of the Yesler community revitalization.
Both the Soccer Octagon and the Yesler project are part of the RAVE Foundation’s program to build accessible urban soccer fields in communities throughout Seattle.
See you on the pitch!
